India’s two finest players; ROHIT SHARMA and ISHANT SHARMA got ruled out of the upcoming test series in December.
A piece of unpleasant news inundated Indian cricket fans this Wednesday as Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma both were deemed unfit to participate in the upcoming Australian test series. This announcement has been a huge blow for the team bearing in mind the fantastic performances of both in their respective roles i.e opener and lead pacer. The four-Test series, after the day-night opener in Adelaide, will move to Melbourne (December 26th to 30th), followed by games in Sydney (January 7th to 11th) and Brisbane (January 15th to 19th).
Rohit is currently recovering from a hamstring injury by undergoing rehabilitation at NCA (National Cricket Academy) in Bengaluru. He had injured himself during IPL 2020 and has sustained this injury ever since. Ishant, on the other hand, has been declared “recovered” from his foot strain injury by BCCI sources, but still precluded from playing a test in Adelaide, December 17. His fate for the remaining matches is still shrouded in mystery.
“Both of the players have been training in quarantine” quoted by the official sources of BCCI. However, even if they happen to be in Australia for the rest of the matches, Kiwi’s “hard quarantine” restrictions will be a bane for them.

Considering their injuries are of the utmost gravity, it will take them around another 3-4 weeks to get back in form. Rohit is concurrently going through a familial problem of attending to an “ailing father” while recovering from injury.
Not only test series but Ishant has been ruled out of limited over ODI series too. T. Natrajan has replaced him in his position as the lead seamer. Still, the uncertainty looms over the fate of Rohit’s selection in the ODI squad, which majorly depends upon his speedy recovery and father’s health. On December 11, he will be assessed for the final call of his selection in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.
