A search was conducted by the NCB at the residence of Comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Harsh Limbachiyaa. The raid has been a part of the ongoing investigation by NCB into the alleged drug use in the entertainment industry. Based on an insider tip, Bharti’s residence which is in Lokhandwala Complex in Andheri was raided. A small quantity i.e., 85.5 grams of Cannabis or Ganja was found at her place
Bharti and her husband were summoned by the NCB hours after the raid was conducted at their place for further questioning.
It was during the interrogation of a drug peddler that Bharti’s name came up. The husband-wife duo has been accused of consuming drugs.
Bharti is a well-known name in the entertainment circle and is currently seen in The Kapil Sharma show as Bhabhi or Bua. She also co-hosts the dance-based reality show India’s Best Dancer along with her husband.
The NCB for long has been looking into the alleged use of the drug in Bollywood after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June which caused an uproar on social media. The investigation has been going on, on the basis of WhatsApp Chats involving drugs. Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik and some employees of the film star were booked under various sections of the NDPS Act by the central agency.
Residences of many popular stars like Deepika Padukone were raided by the Narcotics Control Bureau. The agency had recently questioned actor Arjun Rampal and his partner Gabriella Demetriades and also arrested the wife of producer Feroz A Nadiadwala. NCB in an official notice stated that the names of those who are into drugs in Bollywood and slowly coming up and drug peddlers across Maharashtra are being arrested in the same case.
Last month, the brother of Gabriella Demetriades, Agisialos was arrested by NCB in another drug case where a small quantity of Hashish and Alprazolam tablets were seized from him. He was also in touch with a Nigerian national, Omega Godwin, who was also arrested for the supply of cocaine in Mumbai.
More than 23 people have been arrested till now in a Bollywood drug probe. Rhea Chakraborty was granted bail after spending 27 days in judicial custody but her brothers’ bail plea was rejected by the court.
