Ever since the lockdown is imposed in mid-semester break march, it has been a long period of a break for all students. There is no doubt that every student wants offline education and wants to get back to things as they were, the break has been the longest.
On the other hand, Karnataka has considered reopening the college for final year students after eight months. Colleges are considering granting access to a small number of students to the colleges back on campus with proper checking, thermally screened, and hand sanitization.
The expected turnover was poor, BBMP, which is collecting 450 swabs near colleges across the city, estimated first-day attendance to be 30%.
As per the current news, the mandatory Covid-19 report sets confusion among students, so students with no negative certificate were creating a huge rush in the primary health centers near college for testing.
Around 100 or more from swami Vivekanand college were sent to primary health centers to get tested which were a link to colleges.
The college reported that out of 450 final students there was only 15 percent attendance, Dr. B.G. Bhaskar, principal of Vivekanand degree college.
The students of post-graduation and final year students who wish to continue classes physically will have to provide a consent letter from parents with duly signed.
As per guidelines given by the health department, social distancing is a must, taking into account the number of students in a class and the total number of available classrooms.
The classes to be conducted in shift wise and students who wish to attend an online class can do that too. The timetable should be prepared in college itself keeping in mind the social distancing and guidelines issued by the health department.
Study material to be provided in the form of PowerPoint presentation, E-notes, Ebooks, Audiobooks, and practice question paper, it is mandatory to upload these on the website too.
As on one side where there was a debate regarding whether professors deliver lectures wearing masks, on the other side professors of maharani college were wearing masks and delivering lectures. Though the mask should be a must as covid is still in the picture and has not been cured.
The big opening on Tuesday was not the first time for institutes, as most of the classes were conducted online, students have been coming for practical classes for colleges. The colleges are already in the progress of conducting an online class for students of second and first-year students and will continue examinations for all years in December.
The institutes are planning to conduct practical classes from January onwards.
