MPL brand of mobile premier league athleisure and sports merchandise, BCCI confirmed MPL as sponsors of the new kit of the Indian cricket team.

MPL is a mobile e-sports platform based in India, driven by Galactus funware Technology Pvt. Ltd. people can enjoy multiple skills related to mobile gaming tournaments on MPL.

It is a platform where people sign up and enjoy skill-based mobile gaming tournaments and win cash prizes in return. They have signed up Virat Kohli as their brand ambassador for a year.

 

The news from BCCI was confirmed on board on Tuesday, besides being sponsoring, MPL is also a merchandising partner of the Indian cricket team.

As per the contract, they have entered into a 3- year agreement with BCCI from November 2020 till December 2023. The MPL sports partnership with BCCI will start from the upcoming match of India vs Australia 2020 tour, where Indian cricket team members will be wearing their new jersey merchandise by MPL.

According to recent news, the contract is worth 120 crores. The women’s team and under 19 teams are also part of the new kit contract with MPL.

Besides providing jerseys to Team India, MPL will also sell their licensed merchandise team India, where they will offer team india merchandise jerseys at reasonable prices to fans.

Apart from this BCCI will also get a 10% share for every merchandise and jersey sold by MPL.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said that they are overwhelmed to announce the new epoch of the Indian cricket team with the partnership of MPL as a kit sponsor for men’s and women’s Indian cricket team till 2023. BCCI will also look forward to adding new series to the kit. And also bringing a partnership that is easily accessible to the huge fan followers of Team India.

Abhishek Madhavan, senior vice president of BCCI, said that having billions of fans of team India in the market, they see a lot of potential of making this new partnership success in the future. He also added that they hope that the partnership with such a sponsor will take all kinds of Indian cricket team merchandise to a large number of the population both online as well as offline too at a reasonable price.

He said that being in partnership with Indian Cricket Team is a huge opportunity for them, so they want everyone to feel the same to proudly flaunt this new merchandise.

The last sponsorship with Nike came to an end in September, after the contract expired, it was difficult for BCCI to bid for a new sponsor because of the international cricket calendar owing to the current situation of covid 19. Considering that in mind they have provision for bidding for the non-apparel manufacturer for the new jersey right.

On the other hand, Nike faces a hard time after the expiration of the contract, as the company was in partnership with the Indian cricket team for the last 14 years. It is in loss due to pandemic and hence affecting the wholesale worldwide
