India’s capital New Delhi is facing a rise in covid cases due to the coming winter surge and pollution level at its dangerous level. The city has around 8500 cases as recorded on Wednesday and 85 deaths in a day. The surge in cases after a long break of nil cases in months has put the doctors and hospitals under a lot of pressure as more than half of the beds are occupied by covid patients.
The chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, has written to the federal government asking for more beds.
India is among the second-highest in having coronavirus cases.
The cases are increasing due to two reasons: winter and the worst pollution condition in Delhi, because of which it is difficult to control this virus.
Doctors and paramedics might be flown to Delhi to assist with the surge of cases. The senior ministry official said that 75 doctors and 250 paramedics should be en route to Delhi as soon as possible to assist the doctors in fighting this surge in cases.
The official added that they would be arriving through commercial flights, that’s why they need time for arrangements.
The announcement comes up after the day Home Minister Amit Shah and chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, discuss the measures to suppress this covid wave and tighten the protocols to protect future rise. Further, the records include a growing variety of oxygen beds with a 10,000-bed facility within chattarpur space. Recently only 10% of the beds are oxygen supported in the Sardar Patel Covid Care Centre and Hospital.
The steps were taken after assembly, 300 ICU beds were added in DRDO hospital, Dhaula Kuan.
Accompany with the house to house survey.it was added the hospitals in the municipal community will be turned into a covid hospital. Teams will visit each hospital to ensure proper functioning.
Last month Delhi was warned by the national center for disease control that the cases may go up 15000 per day, that quite stressful because of the lack of social distancing and the festive season and winters related- respiratory issues.
Delhi has reposted 47 lakh cases till now with 70,000 deaths which are linked to the virus.
The rise in cases is also a reason for coinciding with the festive season in India, Hindus celebrating Diwali, despite banning fireworks and sale of fireworks and reinforcing social distancing, a lot of crowds were observed in markets which leads to the alarming situation. The situation got further worse because of the rising pollution level which was 15 times greater than the world health organization safe levels. Another factor is in winter general immunity levels drop and people are more susceptible to infections.
